Kapan State Theater named after Alexander Shirvanzade was founded in 1935. The first performance was Alexander Shirvanzade's play "Evil Spirit", with the participation of talented actors: Anik Harutyunyan, Victor Balayan, Militos Ghazaryan, Arusyak Martirosyan, Mkhitar Davtyan, Khoren Sargsyan, Bagrat Kirakosyan, Hamest Stepanyan and others.
Throughout its history there have been many impressive and interesting performances, but we can single out a few: "Evil Spirit", "For Honor", "Namus", "Vagif", "Othello", "Pepo", "Khatabala", "Servant for two Masters ", "Demolished Hearth", "Pakhtasar Akhpar", "Kapkaz Tamasha", "Taxi Taxi" as the most popular performances.
Many famous people played in theater performances, such as Vahram Papazyan, Hrachya Nersisyan, Mher Mkrtchyan, etc.
